Personal project - Iceland is one giant geological hotspot. The country is one of the most active volcanic regions in the world.
Thrihnukagigur volcano is dormant β it last erupted over 4,000 years ago. The Thrihnukagigur magma's in the chamber seems to have disappeared. Itβs believed that the magma solidified in the walls or quite simply retreated to the depths of the earth. This rare exception of volcano eruption makes it able to get inside. We descent 120 meters/400 feet to the bottom of the crater in an open cable lift.
Here're some of the pictures of this experience.
